Rule No. 5

rulesforthesouthernlady:

Be known for something.  Whether it is a drink, dance move, special dessert, being the girl that dances on the bar, or hair bows, have something that is your “signature” that makes you stand out.  You will be remembered.  Being remembered is good.

Rule No. 6

rulesforthesouthernlady:

Always use manners when speaking.  Phrases like, “Yes please” or “Thank you ma’am” should happen multiple times every day.  One of the most classy things a girl can do is always use impeccable manners.  And people will notice.

Rule No. 37

rulesforthesouthernlady:

White is absolutely not acceptable as a bottom after Labor Day. Do not do it.  For real, this is nonnegotiable.  There is a clear difference between “white” and “winter white” and “winter white” is acceptable in tops, scarves, jackets, and certain styles of dresses.  Any kind of white pants, shoes, or belts are not, I repeat NOT ok.

You can bring the white back on Easter but it’s really not supposed to come back until Confederate Memorial Day.

Rule No. 43

rulesforthesouthernlady:

Never be the loudest person in the room.  Have your voice heard but do not be that loud girl.  It’s tacky and you will quickly be dismissed as an attention seeker.  That is not a good thing.

Rule No. 44

rulesforthesouthernlady:

Somewhere in between boring and sloppy is the very place that every Southern Belle should be when attending parties.  She charms everyone in the room, sings and dances, is never out of control, takes pictures with the girls, drinks with the boys and is everyone’s favorite.  This is the only acceptable place to be.

Rule No. 46

rulesforthesouthernlady:

Costume jewelry is for costumes.  Keep your jewelry simple, classic and pretty much the same from day to day.  Certain outfits call for special jewelry that specifically matches it however do not go overboard.

Rule No. 49

rulesforthesouthernlady:

When you leave a room, get up from a table, or walk away from a conversation always, always, always say, “Excuse me.”  Good manners will take you far.
